OOPS! It’s too big!
So I decided to shrink it…..
And now it’s just right–for an oven mitt!
Actually, this wasn’t an oops…this was deliberate. I love making felted knitted items, and this is about as simple as it gets. Perfect for a little Christmas gift for a friend who knows her way around the kitchen.
What handmade gifts are you giving this Christmas? I love ideas, so share, please!

Nice. How did you shrink it?
I thought maybe you could have used it for a novelty stocking! lol
is THAT the secret to felting? my sister and i have talking about it before… but don’t understand it fully. lol.
i have made tea bags full of herbal winter tea… from herbs i grew and dried…a book mark, and a electric light out of an old lantern. so far.
Love the homemade potholder! l

All good ideas! Thanks for sharing….
@cerwindoris - Put it in a washer with HOT water and let it agitate till it shrinks to the point where you want it to be…different wools felt at different rates so you have to watch it closely. And any fiber that contains synthetic content won’t felt. Has to be pure wool.
I’m more into taking photos
Nice project. I am doing much knitting but nothing specifically as gifts.
